Interior space decoration signage

The placement of any signage on campus requires review by multiple units to ensure that it functions efficiently and intuitively while minimizing visual clutter and maximizing brand consistency. Enterprise Brand Strategy and Management reviews all signage to ensure brand alignment and coordinates with the Office of the University Architect and Facilities Development and Management, as appropriate. If approved, signage orders will be printed through the ASU Print and Imaging Lab. The guidelines on this page detail what options units may use for exterior marketing and communications signage as well as how to submit those designs for approval.

Interior space decoration signage

All interior and exterior spaces require placement and creative approval for graphics and installations. General guidelines:

  • Main entrance lobbies in buildings must remain neutral with no department signage.
  • Reception areas on other levels of the building may have a 1D unit logo panel to identify a unit.
  • Acrylic panels on standoffs are the only approved sign type for public corridors and may be placed adjacent to your space or suite. This applies for units who are the sole occupant of a building as well. These panels may not be utilized for space identification purposes. They should be thematic and educational designs about the unit.
  • Logos on walls
    • If the logo is incorporated into a design, then it does not need to follow the 1D panel system.
    • If a unit wants to only display a logo on a wall, it would have to follow the 1D panel system.

Snap frames

Snap frames provide a fast and easy solution to your sign and display requirements. Snaps open on a spring hinge for fast and easy poster change without the need for tools or removal from the wall. The sign utilizes four hinged sides that flip open and close in a snap. Once mounted it's easy to change your posters: Simply lift up sides and change your image while the unit is still mounted.

Snap frames may only be placed inside a unit’s space or suite. They may not be used in public spaces, corridors, lobbies unless explicitly approved by OUA. There are no exceptions.
