Summer Camp

Recapping last year’s Summer Camp

In 2022, Summer Camp attendees were treated to sessions highlighting new secondary colors, a new font and new ways of thinking about the ASU brand, giving and digital giving, project management, SEO, data and insights, print services and how to work with agencies.

Offered as a hybrid event, the in-person days were held at two new spaces at ASU: the Rob and Melani Center for Planetary Health and the Mesa City Center.

Virtual Day One

Discover the products built and maintained by ASU Engineering to support WordPress website development. The Pitchfork theme and accompanying plugins are freely available to members of the university and could save you thousands of dollars in contracting external agencies for similar work.

Peter Schlosser, vice president and vice provost of global futures at ASU, will set the stage with a look into the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory and its brand new home at the Rob and Melani Center for Planetary Health, via a conversation hosted that will explore how and why this program and facility is helping to guide ASU’s pan-disciplinary work that has earned the university recognition one of the world’s most impactful higher education institutions. 

As the Vice President and Vice Provost of Global Futures, Peter Schlosser brings his insight and experience as one of the world’s most respected and most cited Earth scientists to design and guide the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory and its College of Global Futures. His research interests are based in understanding water movement and its variability in natural systems such as oceans, seas, lakes, rivers and other waterways. He is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences, co-chair of The Earth League and serves as a director for the board of the American Geophysical Union.

How do you describe something that's never been invented before, in a way that is understandable, interesting and compelling? Learn about the partnership that went into positioning The Julie A. Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory as the world’s first organization designed to reshape our relationship with our planet as a key part of the country's most innovative university.

On the ASU Brand Strategy and Management team, Adam creates integrated, insight-driven marketing strategies and oversees development of marketing plans that build the strength of, interest in and affinity for ASU and its family of brands. He has been building brands and business since the original dot com boom. His first book, "Under Think It," is taught in universities, ad agencies and Fortune 100s.

Jason is an assistant director of Strategic Marketing and Communications for ASU’s Knowledge Enterprise. He oversees all communications, branding and marketing for the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory including outreach strategies, media relations, web and social media platforms.

As a member of FINN Partners (an ASU roster agency), Peter has built award-winning brands and campaigns for global brands like Pfizer, Nestle, and JPMorgan, top foundations like Carnegie, Kellogg, and Broad, tech giants like EDS, Titan and AOL, and obscure startups named after frogs and hot peppers.

We’ve all been there — you need visuals but don’t have budget to hire a crew. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll quickly cover the basics, including the anatomy of what makes an effective, on-brand photo or video and how to efficiently prep for success. Then we’ll get to work, splitting into teams, working with either a smartphone or DSLR camera to bring the whole process to life.
